The Semiotic Stitcher is a pataphysical device that produces encounters between signs. It fabricates a seam where
heterogeneous forms of knowledge are temporarily stitched into relation.
Every seam produced records a previous rupture. The Department recognises the seam as evidence of connection... but also evidence of previous separation. The Stitcher might, periodically, issue Departmental pronouncements. These will be in the form of conceptual weather systems moving through the Department. The Semiotic Stitcher has
a reverse capability.
